A couple in Texas almost doubled their family size after welcoming quadruplets this summer. Gaby Hagler, 39, and her husband, who were already parents to three children, decided to have one more child to complete their family. However, during a routine 12-week ultrasound, they were shocked to learn that they were expecting not one, but four babies.
Despite the initial shock, the couple felt excited and grateful to welcome their “rainbow babies” since Gaby had previously suffered a miscarriage. The quadruplets were born healthy and happy, bringing the family’s total number of children to seven.
“We were over the moon when we found out we were expecting quadruplets,” Gaby said. “It was a complete surprise, but we couldn’t be more grateful for the blessing of four healthy babies.”
The Haglers faced many challenges during Gaby’s pregnancy, including bed rest and regular monitoring, but they were determined to do everything they could to ensure the health of their babies. They received an outpouring of support from their community and even strangers who donated clothes, diapers, and other essentials to help them prepare for their growing family.
Now, the Haglers are adjusting to life with four new additions to their family. “It’s definitely a lot of work, but we are so in love with our new babies,” Gaby said. “We feel so blessed to have them in our lives and to have such a supportive community around us.”
On June 22, Gaby and her husband welcomed their four newborns – Adam, Bennett, Coby, and Dane – who were born prematurely. The couple’s three other children – stepbrother Paxton, stepsister Kalleigh, and brother Sammy – helped choose the names for the new family members.
Patrick, the father of the quadruplets, jokingly says, “I just turned 50 and I have four newborn babies. Most people become grandparents at 50, and certainly, their arrival changed our lives 180 degrees! At first, we were scared because we had planned our daily lives and finances for one baby, but everything is slowly finding its way.”
Along with adjusting to the joy of having four new additions to their family, the Hagleɾs have also had to adapt to the financial and practical changes that come with it. As the quadruplets continue to grow, the family has had to figure out a new daily routine. Gaby Hagleɾ estimated that they use approximately 45 diaρeɾs, 95 wiρes, and prepare between 12 to 24 bottles every day. They dedicate around nine hours a day to feeding, burping, changing, and attending to the needs of the quadruplets. It’s been a challenging but rewarding journey for the Hagleɾ family as they navigate their new life with four new bundles of joy.
To tell their newborns apart, the Hagleɾs have assigned each baby their own color and animal. Adam has a blue and giraffe theme, Bennett has a green and sloth theme, Coby is often dressed in a white and panda theme, and Dane has a gray and elephant theme. According to Patrick Hagleɾ, this color-coding system works well for them. Gaby Hagleɾ also mentioned that the babies’ personalities have started to emerge. Adam appears to be the most mature, Bennett is the star of the show, and Coby is the professional baby who is always on schedule.
As the quadruplets continue to grow, the Hagleɾs have been adjusting their routine to accommodate their needs. They estimate going through an average of 45 diapers, 95 wipes, and 12 to 24 bottles per day. Each day, they dedicate about nine hours to feeding, burping, changing, and tending to the babies’ needs. While these changes have come with financial and logistical challenges, the Hagleɾs feel grateful for their “rainbow babies” and are adjusting to their new life as a family of nine.
The Hagleɾs express their gratitude towards the love and support from family and friends who have come together to assist them with the quadɾuρlets. They also appreciate the help from their older children who have been an extra hand as they adjust to their new lives in Katy, Texas.
Patrick Hagleɾ acknowledges that the babies have been a significant anchor for their blended family, with Paxton being his son from a previous relationship, Kalleigh being Gaby’s daughter from a previous relationship, and Sammy being their child together. The arrival of the quadɾuρlets has brought everyone together in a more cohesive way, and having the older children participate in caring for the babies has strengthened the family dynamic.
