Shea Prior first discovered a stray cat that would roam around her yard a few months ago. She was overjoyed when the cat finally came close enough for her to feed it. After a few days of feeding the cat, she noticed that it was producing milk, indicating that it had kittens nearby.
Prior expressed her excitement and concern to The Dodo, stating that she wanted to help the mama cat and its kittens if she could. Despite looking around, she could not find any sign of the kittens. Out of curiosity, she asked the mama cat where they were.
Prior shared in a Facebook post that she started talking to the mama cat and told it to show her to its babies, saying that she bet they were so pretty. The next day, when she was watering her plants, she saw the mama cat running towards her, and it was no longer alone.
The mama cat led Prior to her shed, where she found two tiny kittens staring back at her. The mama cat lay on her side and started making tiny croaking sounds, calling her kittens to come out and see her.
Over time, the mama cat had developed a strong trust in Prior and knew that she would help keep her family safe. This is why she was proud to show off her five tiny kittens to Prior.
At first, the kittens were too scared to come out of hiding, but their mama showed them that it was safe, and they finally got brave enough to meet Prior. One of the grey kittens was especially bold and came up to Prior, lifting its little tail high in the air, and allowing her to pet it. Eventually, all the kittens came to Prior and allowed her to hold and pet them after about 10 to 15 minutes.
Prior knew that she had to help the family as soon as she saw them, and she was able to bring them all safely into her house. She found homes for all five kittens when they were old enough to be adopted and decided to adopt the mama cat as well.
