A cat was 18 years old when he found his forever human. Since then, he has never left his side.
The Purrfect Pals Cat Sanctuary and Adoption Centers in Arlington, Washington rescued an 18-year-old cat from a public shelter in order to give him a chance at a better life. The tuxedo cat was surrendered to the shelter when his previous owner could no longer keep him.
The senior feline quickly captured the hearts of the staff and volunteers at the sanctuary with his incredible resilience and sweet demeanor. He was described as a “classy little pocket kitty, wearing a spiffy tuxedo coat with white mittens”. The staff stated that despite his age, he was a mellow guy, who was adept at handling any situation life throws his way.
The rescue organization was determined to find the perfect home for the deserving senior cat. He needed a place where he could feel safe and comfortable, lounging about, sleeping, or cuddling during his golden years.
Purrfect Pals stated that cats like Sammy belong in homes with people to call their own, warmth from the sun to warm their bones, and soft places to lay their heads. They added that no shelter could ever compare to being that home.
Tim Adams, who had a senior cat of his own, was immediately drawn to Sammy’s story and fell in love with him at first sight. He shared with Love Meow that he knew senior pets are not typically the first choice for adoption, but he decided to go see Sammy anyway.
Upon arrival at the adoption center, Tim saw Sammy sitting alone, looking a bit dejected. However, as soon as Tim approached him, the tuxedo cat perked up and took a liking to him.
Tim said that Sammy rubbed his face on his hands repeatedly and he knew right then and there that he was meant to be Sammy’s forever human.
After filling out the adoption paperwork and bringing Sammy home, Tim was amazed at how easily he fit into his new home and became a member of the family. He was a sweet and affectionate companion, who loved to cuddle and spend time with his new human.
Sammy’s story is a testament to the fact that senior pets make wonderful companions and deserve a chance at a happy life, just like any other pet.
