Couple Adopts 2 Sets of Identical Twins After 8-Year Wait
A couple from Utah who underwent in-vitro fertilization have recently welcomed two sets of identical twins, or quadruplets, in a heartwarming journey.
Ashley and Tyson Gardner express their overwhelming joy following the Caesarean birth of quadruplets – Indie, Esme, Scarlett, and Evangeline – at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo. The newborns’ weights ranged from slightly less than 2 pounds to just over 2 pounds, as reported by the hospital.
After 8 years of infertility struggles, Ashley and Tyson Gardner turned to IVF treatment, a process where eggs are fertilized outside the body, leading to a rare occurrence where both fertilized eggs split, resulting in not one but TWO sets of identical twins. This phenomenon is extremely uncommon, with only one out of 70 million pregnant women giving birth to quadruplets.
After 7 1/2 weeks of hospital bedrest, this Loпe Peak graduate successfully carried her four girls for 29 weeks and 4 days. Ashley and her husband had become advocates for the infertility community and Ashley spent countless hours answering questions on social media and providing support to others facing similar struggles.
On Dec. 28, 2014, after 7 1/2 weeks of bedrest, the Gardners welcomed their four baby girls into the world within 2.5 minutes via Caesarean section. Despite their small size, the babies were healthy. Tyson emotionally expressed, “It’s amazing to see babies come into this world. You can’t describe it — you have to feel it.”
37 people, including five neonatologists, were present in the delivery room at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center for the highly anticipated birth of the four baby girls. The babies, named Indie, Esme, Scarlett, and Evangelin, were all healthy and came home within two months. The Gardners were overjoyed to finally have their family together in their American Fork townhouse, and Ashley reflects that her babies are “little blessings she never knew she wanted.”
Ashley and Tyson’s daughters, Indie, Esme, Scarlett, and Evangelina, constantly attract attention wherever they go with their parents, whether it be at shopping malls, grocery stores, swimming pools, or parks. To manage the crowds of people who show a keen interest in their daughters’ well-being, Ashley and Tyson have become skilled at navigating the quad stroller.
Ashley, aged 28, expresses that many individuals have closely followed their family’s journey and feel a deep connection to them. After several months of interrupted sleep throughout the day and night, she can finally enjoy a full night’s rest.
Ashley describes the first few months since her daughters’ birth as exhausting but fulfilling. Watching her little miracles grow healthy, happy, and thriving each day fills her heart with gratitude. She savors every moment with them, cherishing the opportunity to hold them close and witness their developmental milestones.
