Maddox, Cox stop 49ers on 4th down attempt. 49ers, down 28-7, went for it on 4th-and-2 from own 47 but were stopped by Cox and Maddox for a loss of 4, with 10:52 remaining in the game. Purdy couldn’t throw due to elbow injury, and Johnson was out with a concussion, so Samuel took the handoff.

Johnson removed from game, Purdy back in. In the 3rd quarter’s opening drive, Suh knocked Johnson down, leading referees to evaluate Johnson for head injury. Purdy returned to the game for the first time since the 49ers’ opening drive.

It’s possible to add the 49ers to Scott’s nickname of Giant Killer. His touchdown just before halftime extended the Eagles’ lead and demonstrated his big-play ability against a formidable opponent.

Jalen Hurts hits A.J. Brown for 28 yards on 3rd and 10
On 3rd and 10, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts hit A.J. Brown with a 28-yard pass to keep the drive alive. The pass put the Eagles at the 49ers’ 36-yard line, leading to a touchdown by Miles Sanders two plays later.
The touchdown by McCaffrey was the result of a 14-play, 75-yard drive that lasted 5:26. The drive was also helped by a key completion by quarterback Josh Johnson to tight end Jordan Reed for 21 yards.
This drive showcased the tenacity of the Eagles defense, anchored by the effort of Hargrave. He disrupted the 49ers’ offensive flow with his sack and pass deflection, leading to a punt and favorable field position for the Eagles.

Brock Purdy, the rookie quarterback for the 49ers, is questionable to return in the game due to a right elbow injury sustained from a strip-sack by Eagles’ Haason Reddick. Josh Johnson is now in at quarterback for the 49ers.
