Photographer Robin Baker has been capturing the beauty of birth for the last six years, having attended over 70 births in her role as a professional birth photographer and doula. One of the most recent births she documented was that of a set of twins, and it turned out to be one of the most incredible moments in her career.
During the home birth, the first baby boy was born without any complications, but the delivery of his twin brother was truly extraordinary. The second baby was born still inside the amniotic sac, a phenomenon that only occurs in approximately 1 in 80,000 births. The parents were given the opportunity to bond with the first baby for 30 minutes before the second baby arrived.
In the peaceful and joyous atmosphere, the father climbed into the bathtub to assist his partner in delivering the second baby, who was still encased in the amniotic sac. The mother reached down and carefully removed the sac, and the father turned the baby to release the Nuchal cord, before passing him to the mother.
