The birth of the Waldrop sextuplets marks a significant milestone for Alabama, as they are the state’s first newborn sextuplets since 2011. Huntsville Hospital took extensive measures in preparation for their arrival, including organizing equipment, ensuring an ample blood bank supply, and conducting practice drills using simulations. A dedicated team of 40 individuals from various departments eagerly awaited the “Code Six” alert, named in honor of the six newborns. Each infant has their own designated medical team and is associated with a distinct color scheme.
The newborns were assigned colors according to the order of their birth, following the ROY G. BIV (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet) color sequence, representing the colors of the rainbow.
When it came to naming their babies, Courtney emphasized the significance of giving them names that were equally unique and special, just like the infants themselves. The three boys were named Blu, Layke, and Tag, while the three girls were given the names Rawlings, Rayne, and Rivers.
Since the arrival of the Waldrop family’s sextuplets, their journey has been filled with significant milestones, fears, and blessings. As a way of expressing gratitude to all those who have supported them throughout their remarkable journey, they have made the decision to give back.
According to Courtney Waldrop, their household is now filled with the joyful sound of nine precious blessings.
While the exterior of the Waldrop’s residence in Albertville remains largely unchanged since our previous visit, inside their home tells an entirely different story.
Every essential baby item, ranging from bouncers and bottles to changing tables and car seats, is thoughtfully arranged throughout the house.
“Balancing the needs of nine children and six infants presents a constant challenge, leaving little time for anything other than caring for our kids,” mentioned Courtney Waldrop. “Fortunately, the babies sleep soundly throughout the night,” added her husband, Eric. With a chuckle, Courtney remarked, “The good Lord must have known that we needed good sleepers to ensure our survival.”
The Waldrop family has embraced a new way of life since the arrival of their six precious infants. Courtney expressed, “They are the most wonderful babies, the most incredible little ones.” In addition to the sextuplets named Tag, Rayne, Blu, Rawlings, Layke, and Rivers, their brothers Saylor, Bridge, and Wales bring a constant sense of excitement and joy to their household.
Since before the birth of the babies, people from all around the world have extended their support and assistance. Courtney expressed her gratitude, stating, “We owe our presence here today to the immense love, support, and prayers we’ve received.”
Sargent acknowledged the multitude of prayers offered for Courtney and the babies, saying, “Amidst the uncertainty and anxiety, witnessing them in my arms, perfectly healthy, is a testament to the goodness of God.”
The Waldrop family has experienced a wide range of emotions, but with the unwavering support of their community and their strong faith, they are prepared to face any challenge that comes their way.
