A 19-year-old mother from Karnataka, named Nandini, gave birth to a baby girl via caesarean section in the southern state of Hassan on Monday night. The newborn weighed 15 pounds (6.8 kg), which is twice the average birth weight.
Dr. Venkatesh Raju, a local physician, expressed his astonishment, saying, “In my 25 years of practice, I have never seen a baby this huge.” The baby girl is not only the largest ever born in India but also, in his opinion, the heaviest baby girl in history.
The unnamed baby’s massive size surprised everyone, including her mother and the medical team.
NÉ‘ndini, a 19-year-old who weighed 94 kg and stood at 5.99 ft, had an uncomplicated pregnancy but was unaware of her ‘s size. Despite her size, doctors confirm that the does not have diabetes, which is often associated with obesity in newborns.

According to Dr. Poornima Manu, the gynecologist who delivered the infant, her arrival was a huge surprise to everyone. The procedure was completed in approximately 30 minutes without any hazards. The baby is attractive and large, breathing properly, and doesn’t have any health issues like abnormal thyroid or sugar levels. Initially, there were concerns about her blood sugar levels, but it’s typical. The mother had undergone routine checkups at the hospital and never showed any symptoms of gestational diabetes or a thyroid condition.
Both the mother and child are in good health, and we will discharge them from the hospital once we ensure the baby’s well-being.
